What We Check in a Chamber Survey

Chamber walls and benching condition (cracks, displacement, deterioration); cover frame condition and seal; depth and flow through the channel; any visible blockage, root ingress or debris; evidence of infiltration (groundwater entering the chamber); mis-connections (surface water entering a foul chamber or vice versa).

When a Chamber Inspection Is Needed

Recurring drain problems where the cause isn't clear; pre-purchase inspections on a property where you want to check the condition before a full CCTV survey; before building over or near a drain run (a build-over assessment is a condition of planning permission in many cases); as part of an insurance claim or dispute; a chamber cover that has subsided or become uneven.

Build-Over Assessments

If you plan to build an extension or structure close to or over a drain run, you will usually need a build-over assessment — checking that the drain can bear the load or be appropriately diverted. We carry out build-over inspections and provide the report in the format required by Severn Trent.
